Taysia - Week 9

Tuesday, July 28, 2009

Taysia is very active and aware. She usually has her arms and legs going when changing her diaper. She can’t sleep when we go to Grandma’s because she’s too busy watching everybody. Taysia doesn’t want to miss out on anything. We also celebrated Taysia’s two-month birthday this week.

Daddy's Girl

Daddy dressed Taysia today. I thought it was so sweet that Scott picked out that outfit because it said "Daddy’s Little Girl" on the front. Nope. He said he picked it out because it was Utah Jazz colors.

Taysia Brianne - Week 7

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

This week Taysia has become aware of her toys and likes to look at them during diaper changes. She also imitates me sticking out my tongue. Taysia found her hand for the first time this week, too. The books say she can only see 12 inches at this age, but I don’t believe it because she can see and follow us across the room. We don’t really let her, but she tries to watch TV while drinking her bottle. The reflux is getting a little better each week as we are learning to manage it.

Taysia Brianne - Week 6

Tuesday, July 7, 2009

Lately Taysia has been going through a naked baby phase. She has always been a warm little baby and lately with the weather heating up she usually prefers to be naked. She is always happy in the morning and smiles at me every day.

The reflux continues to get a little better. Some of it is just that we are getting better at managing it. I spoke with a friend earlier this week who had a baby that had reflux for nine months before her little body got mature enough. I really think at this point we need to take the approach of learning how to live with it instead of just surviving, and managing it instead of just waiting for it to pass.

Grateful

Thursday, July 2, 2009

Today I am grateful for being infertile. If it were not for my infertility I would not be holding THIS beautiful sleeping little girl in my arms. We would not have been able to meet our courageous birth mom and would not have learned from her unselfish love. Scott and I wouldn’t be as close, as our relationship wouldn’t have grown as strong without the heartache and the joy. Today I am grateful.

Taysia Brianne - Week 5

Tuesday, June 30, 2009

This week Taysia had her first real bath in the sink (instead of just a sponge bath). She enjoys "talking" with me and she responds with a happy face, especially in the morning. She has even voluntarily smiled and cooed at me a few times. This week we also celebrated 1 month since Taysia was born. She’s doing a little better with the reflux and we continue to make progress.

Taysia Brianne - Week 4

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

This has been a rough week due to Taysia’s reflux. None of us have slept very well and we haven’t taken many pictures, unfortunately. The reflux makes it so that Taysia can’t be horizontal, which makes it difficult to sleep, especially at night. The doctor did get her a prescription and she is starting to do better, but it can take up to two weeks for the medication to reach its full effect, so we just have to patient for a bit.

Otherwise, Taysia is doing really well. She loves her daddy. In the picture above, she’s with her bear. Taysia’s birth mom also has the exact same bear so she can see how big she’s getting. And she is getting big. She’s still eating good despite the reflux. Taysia is just a really sweet girl.

This week Taysia had her first doctor’s appointment. She has grown 2 inches and gained 8 oz, making her 20 inches long and 7 lbs 11oz. Taysia does have a belly button now - yay! She is wanting to sleep through the night, only getting up for feedings, but we are having issues with reflux right now and she has a hard time being horizontal, so we are working with the doctor to figure it out so she can feel better and we all can get some more sleep.

Alaska and Kira love Taysia and have to make sure she’s okay when she cries. I think they are wanting in the attention department, though, so I do try to give them attention when I can. Same with Scott - I try to give him attention when I can. :)

Taysia Brianne - Week 2

Tuesday, June 9, 2009

Taysia is a good eater and she is growing. She likes to have her feet and legs rubbed and loves to be cuddled. Taysia finally went "cordless" yesterday and her little belly button is taking shape. She is a pretty sweet baby. Scott had to go back to work yesterday and he missed her.

Taysia Brianne - Week 1

Tuesday, June 2, 2009

Well, of course, this has been an eventful week. We were able to be there at the hospital when the baby was born and it was awesome. She came home late Thursday night. We are calling her Taysia Brianne right now, and hopefully that will stick! :) It really was hard to start the naming process until we got her home.

Ever since Taysia got home, it has been quite the adventure. Her tummy didn’t agree with the formula the hospital gave us, so we switched brands and she’s doing well now. Scott likes to say she has a flair for the night life, or that she parties all night and sleeps all day. Both dogs have taken to her and they follow us around thinking that they are "helping."

Taysia has met extended family on both sides and they all adore her, especially both grandmas. We have all waited a long time to meet her and she is definitely loved.
